Additional Praise for The Bookeeping Side Hustle Guidebook
I got my bachelor's in accounting. My internship quickly taught me I hated taxes and public accounting, so I went the industry route (real estate) for about 7 years. I stepped out for a while to learn mortgages, but that wasn't sustainable after I had twins. I had no idea this world of remote accounting had opened up while I wasn't looking. My dad heard an advertisement for Bookkeeper Launch or something like that. I didn't buy any courses, but I did get Kate Josephine Johnson's book, and the rest is history!

Hi Kate! I've been a member of your Facebook group for a few months now and I just wanted to tell you that I love what you're doing and wanted to thank you for creating and maintaining the community. I also finally purchased your guidebook and found it to be really informative and pretty funny as well! Your passion for leading people in the right direction when it comes to starting a bookkeeping business really shines through!

I completed the book, it was a really good read. I liked that the advice given is current (2020), the links worked wonderfully. I had to grab a notebook to jot down some of the tips so I can remember. I especially enjoyed the straightforward language, as it is the language I speak. I appreciated you going into details about not only the pros but the cons, your self reflection questions really had me going through the check list. I found the advice to be very practical and helpful, there were some practical and current marketing tips, also some really great out of the box ideas and suggestions. Great read for the serious entrepreneur!

I want to preface by saying I have a very beginner concept of accounting. I worked for 6 months as a bank teller, and have some pretty basic mathematical education since I have a BS in animal sciences. Since getting married and becoming a stay at home mother, and my husband being Active Duty Army, I have taken on the role of CFO and tax preparer for our household. Since we live overseas not only is childcare slim pickings, but employment opportunities are few and far between as well.
After reading Kate’s bookkeeping guide and realizing that I don’t have to throw myself a pity party for not being able to work outside of the home and that I’m not the only person in this rocking boat called life (if that makes sense). While this book is NOT a step by step instructional on technicalities and how to be a bookkeeper, it IS a practical checklist in essence with a multitude of tried and reputable resources that will AID you in becoming a virtual bookkeeper.
This ebook is loaded with hyperlinked resources both free, cheap and even higher end resources that all can either serve the same purposes or VERY different purposes and clientele. If you’re looking for a guide to find not only if bookkeeping is for you, but also a community, resources and someone super relatable this is the book for you!

I really enjoyed reading the book. It too my abut 45mins to get through and was a really easy read. This is a bonus for me - some books like this get bogged down in too many details that make me lose focus. In particular I appreciated your narrative throughout that told your hustling journey. That personal part really jived with me and reminded my why I started hustling in the first place. While bookkeeping is a novice subject for and the closest I get to accounting is my annual tax return headache for my own business, the book has given me some steer in resources I could use to learn more. So all in, an easy and inspiring read.

I started my bookkeeping business nearly one year ago, and immediately joined the Bookkeeping Side Hustle Group, even though this business is my full-time gig. Kate always provides a great deal of information, explanation, and answers, which have helped me grow in my business. Then the Guidebook came...I purchased it because of knowing how much information Kate provides and it is understandable at any level you are at in your bookkeeping business journey. I wanted to know I was doing things right, even a year later. I read through that book in no time, and I've already referred back to it a couple of times. (One time to get the link to purchase the sticker for my laptop!). The Guidebook is a no-nonsense guide from BOTH sides - either you are made for the bookkeeping hustle or you are not, and Kate leaves it up to you to decide. The Guidebook really makes you think as to whether you are really cut out for doing the Bookkeeping Hustle, and has great resources including the Interview Library. GREAT motivation! If you are new to the bookkeeping world and want to turn it into a business, I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND purchasing the Guidebook (it may be cheap, but it is full of wealth!) and joining the Bookkeeping Side Hustle Group on Facebook!
