Podcasts about bookkeeping and accounting are a great way to stay up on the latest news in the industry.  Podcasts are also a great way to sharpen your business mind. They expose you to a wider variety of perspectives than if you just have your eyes on your own computer screen all day, which can be easy for a bookkeeper to do.

This is a list of podcasts that I actually listen to in my own podcast playlist.  Who says accounting is boring!?!

Best Podcasts for Bookkeepers

Cloud Accounting Podcast

The Cloud Accounting Podcast is hosted by Blake Oliver and David Leary and accounting and tech industry news podcast.  They sometimes have guests.  Sometimes it is just the two of them. They hit all the industry conferences, so sometimes there are round ups from those trips they take.  I do not miss an episode and get cranky if they are ever a bit late in releasing the new one each week.  I consider this REQUIRED listening.

The Ambitious Bookkeeper

The Ambitious Bookkeeper is published by Serena Shoup.  Easy to listen to. Lots of practical advice. And for NORMAL people.

Future Firm

Future Firm is put out by Ryan Lazanis and is geared toward people with dreams of pretty large firms.  That is not me, but I still get a lot out of it.  And they are very short and he is a concise communicator (#goals).

Earmark CPE

So, I don’t need CPE because I’m not a CPA, but I’d be very excited about Earmark CPE if I did. Free CPE for listening to podcasts.  And I’m still very excited about it.  It is actually more than just podcasts.  He has somehow gotten very good accounting YouTube Tutorials to count for CPE, too.  So his library will be very valuable.  And its free!  The only “charge” is you have to give up your email and also download an app to see the learning library.

Automation Town

Quirky. Excellent production value.  Automation Town is for the tech lovers out there. If you love automation and apps, you will be inspired.

Booming Bookkeeping Weekly Session

Bill Von Fumetti* just started doing a weekly live broadcasts.  Technically it is on YouTube, but I get the sense that it will be kind of like a “podcast” where you can just listen.  I listened to the first one about value pricing and I think that his teaching was very clear and started to “stick”.  I have one consult on Monday where I am specifically thinking of using this strategy to see if I can TRULY value price it.  Consider this a “one to watch” podcast.  Also, if you ever buy any of his courses, I’m an affiliate if you want to ask for my link.

Side Hustle Show

I really like the Side Hustle Show.  It is one of my favorite podcasts.  It is not about accounting or bookkeeping at all.  But it is about making money by building your side-hustle.  After listening to it while I was at home with very young kids, it started to seep into my skin (that is the best way I can describe it), and I started to really change my outlook about using my brain and skills in flexible ways that worked with my family’s lifestyle.  I started to look for ways to turn my time into money.  I really, really love this podcast.  Production value is high.  Topics are crazy varied and also interesting.  If you are reading this article because you are just trying to figure out what virtual bookkeeping is and whether you should do it, I recommend any 10 episodes of this podcast to open your horizons wider.  Maybe you’ll land on virtual bookkeeping. Maybe you’ll build a green house in your guest bedroom and grow microgreens for your local high-end restaurants.  Or maybe you’ll flip stuff on eBay.  Or maybe you’ll develop a clothing line for short men.  Or maybe you’ll invest in raw land. (I told you the topics were varied).  Host Nick Loper always ends his episodes with his top three takeaways and they are always relevant to ANY line of work/hustle.  You can listen to my interview with him here.

Conquering Workflows & Systems Podcast

The Conquering Workflows & Systems Podcast will help bookkeepers and accountants implement tech, systems and automation to help grow and scale your firm.

$100 MBA Show

The $100 MBA Show by Omar Zenholm is a podcast of  daily 10 minute business lessons.  I don’t listen to all of these, but read all the titles and listen to MANY.

All It Takes Is A Goal

All It Takes Is A Goal by Jon Acuff – This is a newish one for me.  But I’m really encouraged by it.

The Rebel Entrepreneur

The Rebel Entrepreneur – This podcast has a bootstrappy, hard working spirit about it.  I like it.  Substitute “bookkeeping” if they are talking about a different industry.

ChooseFI

ChooseFI – The “FI” stands for “Financial Independence”. This podcast could change your whole life.  My family is on a journey to  FIRE (Financial Independence, Retire Early).

If you appreciate this site, you can buy me a virtual “coffee”.  I’ll toast to you when I drink it!  Thanks!
